George (Larry) Lamb CBE

As circulated via the RFU Council, it is with sadness that we have been informed that George (Larry) Lamb CBE - LSRFUR Life Member - aged 99 has died peacefully at home on Thursday 22nd September.

Larry Lamb was refereeing in the seventies, he was an Air Commodore commanding RAF Lyneham. His first international was the All Blacks v France in Bordeaux and he continued to referee as an Air Marshall. Larry was an outstanding referee, officiating at 14 internationals virtually every other prestigious fixture on the then first-class calendar. Nigel Gillingham OBE was honoured to present him with his international referee cap last year.
