Information for Season 2023-2024

As set out in the email from the General Secretary to the Society, an Incentive Scheme for 2023-24 on 11th December 2023:

LSRFUR IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF THE 2023-2024 INCENTIVE SCHEME!

The aim of this scheme is to encourage our members to officiate more frequently and allow recognition of those who referee a significant number of games each season for the Society.

From 1 August 2023 until 31 July 2024, the Society will incentivise officials by providing the following, in the form of a voucher for the LSRFUR Gilbert Shop, or money off against the Society Annual Dinner, or the Regional Dinners:

  • £10 for officiating 10-14 appointments

  • £15 for officiating 15-19 appointments

  • £20 for officiating 20-24 appointments

  • An additional £5 for each 5 appointments in line with the above pattern, with an upper limit/cap of £50.

In addition, where an official who officiated less than 10 games in 22-23 officiates 10 or more games in 23-24, an additional £10 shall be payable. As an additional incentive, if an official who officiated less than 10 games in 2022-23 at least doubles the number of games officiated in 2023-24 (minimum 15 games), they shall receive 2 tickets to a regular season Premiership game of their choosing (subject to ticket availability)

The number of games officiated will be determined from WTR data and will be based on the year to 31 July 2024. It will include all appointments for a LSRFUR official in a LSRFUR capacity. A "game" is counted where attended in any appointed capacity (e.g. Referee, AR, Coach, MO/PR, Assessor etc). Officiating means being appointed to a game/tournament on WTR which then occurs with a tournament day being classed as an appointment. If a game/tournament is cancelled/postponed, that is classed as an appointment if a reappointment isn't possible with the official remaining available.

For those who officiate 35 or more games in a season, each shall be presented with an individual award during the following season in recognition of their achievement.

Finally, the Society shall provide a pair of tickets to an Autumn International / 6 Nations game / Premiership Rugby Final:

  • The two referees who referee the highest number of appointments

  • The two match observers/coaches who watch the highest number of appointments

  • Two pairs, drawn at random, for all officials who officiate 35 or more appointments

  • One pair, drawn at random, for all officials who officiate 20 or more appointments (draw to include those who officiate 35+)

Payments in relation to the 2022/23 scheme should be being made in the coming weeks.
