Please see below for a full update of the RFU Panel team as we move into the 2018/19 season.

Referees:

Congratulations to Neil Chivers, George Selwood & Matthew Turvey on being promoted to the PGMOT as Referees. We will see some if not all of them in the National Leagues this season, but are looking forward to seeing them progress into the Professional Game in the Championship.

At this time of the year, we say goodbye to a few Referees, and leaving us this season are Chris Bennett, who is returning to play - we wish him all the success in the future.  We also say goodbye Tom Davis, who is retiring, and Callum Sharp is leaving us having decided with his Australian fiance to relocate to Australia.

Promoted as Referees onto the National Panel for the 2018/19 season are as follows;

  • Richard Haughton - Hertfordshire Referees Society & South East Group
  • Joe James - London Referee Society & South East Group
  • Andy Wigley - North Midlands Referee Society & Midlands Group
  • Ben Wilde - London Referee Society & South East Group
  • Daniel Woods - South Yorkshire Referees Society & North Group.

All have proved through the testing phase last season they could cope with the demands of the game at L4 and above, and all five will be an excellent addition to the team.  A big thank you must also go to all those who have supported their development to assist them in reaching this stage in the pathway.

Assistant Referees:

Many congratulations to the following on promotion to the PGMOT; Ian Bibey, Peter Brunt, Bill Burton, Nick Marshall, Simon Park.

Leaving us this season are, Simon Dodd - who has taken an exciting opportunity to teach in the UAE, we wish Simon & Family well in the new venture, but are certain that upon return to the UK in the future we will see him with us again.  Andrew Gardner, regrettably after a lengthy spell out injured, has had to make the decision to retire and along with David Lodge, who after 9 years with us is also retiring.

Andrew Ashwell - Nott’s, Linc’s and Derby's Referee Society
